Lost & Found

To Parents of McKinley Elementary Students

This message is to inform you of our new Lost and Found Procedure at
McKinley.  Last year, over 200 lost and found clothing items were left at the
school.  These clothes have been donated to charity. This year we have a
goal of getting more clothing back where it belongs with students and families.

What parents can do:
Put your child's name on their coats and jackets.
Check the lost and found each time you are at the school.  It is located in
the gym on the red coat hooks.
Remind your child to look for lost items when you realize something is missing.

What the school will do:
Remind students to look at the lost and found items once a week when lining
up in the gym.
Check the clothing to see if it is labeled with a child’s name.
Send home a reminder one week before the clothing will be donated to charity.
(First donation deadline is October 31!)

Keeping the Lost and Found area under control:
Clothing will be donated to charity at the end of every month.
It is important to check the lost and found area often because once a month
the clothing will be donated to organizations that will need and use it.

Thanks for your help with keeping the lost and found to a minimum.
If you have any questions or comments, please be in touch with me.

Thanks!

Parents:

We have saved ALL the winter coats that were in the lost and found since the beginning of the year, so there is one last chance for you to look at the winter coats and see if your child's lost coat is there.  When you come to parent teacher conference this week,  please look at the lost and found area in the gym and claim a lost coat!

Thanks:)
